our STORY
Traditional Roman Pizza THAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD!
At the heart of 3 GRAINS - and everything we do here - is a deeply rooted passion for hand-crafted cuisine, and all of the goodness that comes with it!
Our specific craft goes back to Ancient Rome - a time when Augustus Caesar reigned supreme; poets like Virgil, Horace and Ovid were centre stage; chariot racing was popular; and Roman bakers used a range of stone ground ancient grains to produce different flavoursome flatbreads, the ancestor to pizza.
Fast forward a few (thousand) years, and 3 GRAINS is passionately bringing the ancient taste of Rome to the streets of Melbourne.
We’ve adopted the traditional Roman baking method, taken inspiration from ancient Roman recipes, and added in fresh local ingredients to add a deliciously healthy twist to one of life’s ultimate comfort foods.
THE GOODNESS OF 3 GRAINS
“High in flavour, light on the stomach.”
This is the resounding feedback we get from our customers, and we love it!
Our mix of 3 stone-ground grains - soft wheat flour, wholemeal Spelt, and Rye - together with the slow 3-day leavening process that we have adopted from the Ancient Romans, results in a pizza dough that is light, soft, airy and actually healthy!
As if we needed another excuse to eat pizza?
Add to that our 15+ delicious flavour combinations, and you have yourself some of the best pizza in Melbourne - healthy and delicious!
